Cover/Editorial Design

Set style and designed this beautiful book of poetry cover to cover. This book is packed with more than 200 poems that celebrate the people, places, and passions of the United States. Poems are arranged by region, from coast to coast. There were several challenges in designing this book. First of which was the poems were strictly managed and couldn't be altered which posed challenges in layout structure and pacing. Each poem's visual was carefully curated to capture the feeling that the poem was trying to evoke. There are pages with multiple poems featured on one page, so working with the photography and giving each poem breathing room was a real challenge. Everything underwent many rounds of review with special researchers and authors, including translators for several poems featured in other languages. It was a complicated puzzle to put together and manage with a lot of moving parts, but still one of my favorite book designs and projects to this day.
