Cover/Editorial Design
Designed, art directed, and oversaw the National Geographic Kids Atlas line for many years. The Atlas line is comprised of 6 atlases ranging from pre-K to middle grade, and are designed both visually and editorially to graduate with the reader as their comprehension level increases over the years. I took on a complete redesign and restructuring of this entire line of Atlases that spanned 4 years and continued overseeing the line for many years after. The redesign involved resolving many functional problems, consumer/sales/marketing problems, properly age-ranging each visually, applying a fresh new feel in line with current design standards, and working very closely with the cartography team, illustrators, editors, and education experts. This was a complex multi-year project that ultimately revitalized an important line of reference books for National Geographic Kids, and one I learned a great deal from and am very proud to have been a part of.
